Pure Siesta Rise DAB Alarm Clock Product Review

Pure is a big name with a lot to offer, and they have produced a whole host of home electronics – especially those that play CDs or radio stations. As a result, they have quite the reputation for being reliable and trustworthy as a brand, which is one of the reasons I decided to write a review for one of their DAB alarm clock radios.

The Pure Siesta Rise is a great alarm clock, and one that really offers you flexibility as well as something that works around your schedule. It has plenty of access to DAB, DAB+, and FM wavelengths to make things easier for you, and also to ensure that you always have the stations you love most. It’s a model that I really enjoyed, despite a couple of shortcomings that could have been improved.

However, don’t let my initial reaction tell you anything, as there is a far more detailed review below that will give you all the ins and outs when it comes to this great little piece of kit. So, take a moment, cancel your plans, and see if this Pure Siesta Rise review is going to leave you with the DAB radio alarm clock you’ll be investing in.

Presenting the Pure Siesta Rise

The Pure Siesta Rise is a brilliant piece of technology, and certainly up there with the top models manufactured by Pure. It brings a lot to the table, and it certainly lives up to the majority of the expectations that both I and other customers had for it. Put simply, it won’t disappoint you.

If you are in search of an alarm clock radio that has things like internet radio built into it, this is not the one for you. While you can access the digital stations, it is not capable of streaming, and is not what you are looking for. There are plenty of other models on the market that do have this feature, including those manufactured by Pure.

Expert Tip

There is a difference between sleep and snooze buttons, and we know it can be confusing. The sleep timer puts your radio into standby mode after a time period that you set yourself. The snooze button sends your alarm to sleep for a short period of time before it goes off again.

Features and Benefits

Power and Design

This alarm clock radio has a really modern and stylish design that really works with any décor in your home – making it quite versatile in terms of appearance. One of the other bonuses to this sleekly designed radio is that it also comes in a range of colours for you to choose from – adding a little personality to the mix. It’s the perfect size for sitting comfortably on your bedside table as well.

There is a large, but clear, LCD display. This shows you the time, the date, volume, and how many of your alarms have been set – as well as the current station that is playing. The brightness adjusts itself automatically, ensuring it can be read at all times of day and night, but also without keeping you from sleep. In addition to the automatic dimming, you can manually adjust it to suit your needs as well.

All of the controls can be found on the top of the radio, and they are very easy to access as well as clearly labelled. The snooze button is the largest, and this makes it easy to find in the mornings when you desperately want those extra five minutes. The buttons are clearly labelled and spaced nicely so as to avoid two being sleepily pressed at the same time.

Alarm Functionality

The Pure Siesta Rise features three independent alarms, allowing you to set different ones for various occasions – such as weekends and weekdays. Whatever way you need it, this alarm clock offers more flexibility than most when it comes to setting the actual alarms. Each of them is clearly labelled on the screen as well, so you always know which ones are on, and which are off.

You have two choices when it comes to being woken up in the morning as well – you can have a classic buzzer alarm, or you can choose to open your eyes to your favourite radio station playing in the morning. It offers you a choice, allowing you to pick the one that works best for you. Plus, there are a couple of buzzer tones for you to listen to before you make your choice.

Many will be as relieved as I was upon the discovery of the snooze button. It can be pressed in the mornings to give you those extra few minutes of sleep and to help you get up in the morning. Additionally, there is also a sleep timer that you can set so that the radio will stop playing at a certain time and start up again the next morning, so everything revolves around the way you want it.

While many alarm clocks have this final feature, there is still a surprising number that do not, and this is the automatic time change. It stays up to date with seasonal switches, ensuring that you are always running on time and never behind (or too far ahead). This means that you can relax every time the clocks change as you know your radio alarm will be doing it for you.

Never place a glass of water (or another drink) next to the alarm clock before you go to sleep. If you knock it in the night, it could break the clock or cause an electrical fire. If you need a drink next to you at night, put it on the far side of the end table so that it is as far away as possible from the device.

Signal and Station Access

You have access to DAB, DAB+, and FM wavelengths, ensuring that you can listen to all the stations you love regardless of the frequency. It has been equipped with everything you need to get started, including auto-tuning so that you can slide through each of the stations with greater ease than most other standard radios – a feature that I found exceedingly useful.

There are 20 presets in total, which is great, but there is also a catch. While you would normally expect to be able to use the presets however you want, but this is not the case with the Pure Siesta Rise. Instead, you get 10 presets to use for DAB/DAB+ radio and 10 for FM stations. This is a little disappointing, especially for people like me who have a lot more digital stations that they listen to than FM.

However, the sound quality is amazing considering the size and the price that this model comes at. You’ll forget all about the lack of flexibility with the presets once you turn the radio on. Speech is crystal clear, and the vocals when music is playing are crisp and beautiful to behold. Seriously, I was blown away, and you might be surprised by the number of customers who were equally impressed. Of course, there isn’t really any bass or treble, but you don’t expect that stuff at this price point.

Weight and Handling

The Pure Siesta Rise is a really lightweight model of DAB alarm clock, and one that you can move around without any issue at all. It is also incredibly compact, making it ideal for placing on an end table or another small space in your room that can be accessed easily.

Overall, it has everything you need for a transportable and easy to use little alarm clock, and I loved how simple it was to move around and handle the way I wanted.

Did You Know

There are actually three other models of Siesta alarm clock, including the series 2, series 6, and Rise S. These all have different features, functions, and price points, with the series 6 being the latest and most advanced of them all. It might be worth checking them out.

How Does It Compare?

Here are some other, similar, models of DAB alarm clock for you to consider, just in case you want to look at other options before you commit to the Pure Siesta Rise.

Pure Siesta Goodmans

This radio alarm clock features DAB, DAB+, and FM wavelengths to keep you thoroughly entertained at all times. It comes in several different colours with alarms that are easy to set, as well as two charging ports that you can use to plug in your phone or another device overnight. Plus, it all comes at a very good price and from a trusted brand.

Pure Siesta Philips

This leading name has produced a lot of great home tech, radio alarm clocks included. You can wake up to your favourite station or a classic alarm – the choice is yours.

There is a dual alarm included, and you also have access to DAB, DAB+, and FM wavelengths for the ideal radio experience. The price is highly affordable, and there are loads of great features to explore.

Pure Siesta Goodmans 1

Another model from Goodman’s, this radio alarm clock also features DAB, DAB+, and FM stations for you to access whenever you please. It also has Bluetooth connectivity, a lovely and clear LCD display, and also a whole host of controls and features to make life easier for you (including that much-needed sleep button).

It even comes in several different colours for you to choose from.

To Conclude

Hopefully, you have found this Pure Siesta Rise review useful, and all of the information in here has given you a better idea of what you are looking for in your next DAB radio alarm clock to help you get up in the mornings. It’s lightweight, compact, but it really does offer some incredible sound and power that will leave you impressed with both the quality and the price you paid.

There are only two things to look out for, and those are the poor instructions, and the limited presets. The former is easily resolved by finding them online (and they are official) instead of using the paper ones that are provided. For the presets, there isn’t much you can do about it, but all of the other features that this model of DAB alarm clock has makes it worth the lack of easy to access stations. Overall, it is an alarm that I was really impressed by, and certainly at the top of my list.
